Claudia Hill invited to Fifth ASEM Summit in Hanoi

Claudia Hill has been invited to attend this year's Asian European Meeting (ASEM) in Hanoi. Representing Germany, she is one of the six European designers who have been asked to take part in the summit's cultural program, which furthers the artistic exchange between the participating countries.

In the context of ASEM 5, twenty emerging designers from Asia and Europe will meet in two workshops, which will be held in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The designers will have opportunities to exchange ideas, present their collections to each other and talk about possible forms of further co-operation. Each workshop will be followed by a fashion event where the Vietnamese designers and the international guests will present their works to a broader public.

About the Fifth ASEM Summit

The Fifth ASEM Summit is due to take place in Vietnam's capital Hanoi in the fall of 2004. This summit is an important political and diplomatic event for Asian and European country members. Dialogue between the two continents will focus on three main pillars: politics, economics and culture/science. On this occasion, the host country Vietnam and representatives from the two continents will jointly organize a variety of arts and cultural activities such as a congress on cultural cooperation, a pop/rock festival, a film festival, fashion shows, exhibitions, music performances and photo displays. The convergence and connection between cultures from the two continents will highlight the richness and diversity within each country's identity, making the ASEM processes more vivid and relevant.

The Fifth ASEM Summit was organized by the Asia-Europe Foundation and the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture and Information, along with the Goethe-Institut, the British Council and L'Espace, in co-operation with the embassies of Denmark, Italy, Japan, Kingdom of Thailand, The Netherlands, People's Republic of China, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Republic of Singapore and Sweden.
