During public gatherings, tapestry sculptures of indigo-dyed clothing are used as a sound score and activated by intuitive archery for rituals of release (October 2022 to June 2023).
Convene Weaving Gatherings is part of a long-term process that engages with the ancient technique of weaving while functioning as an archival and narrative practice. By physically exploring the web of relations between somatic practices and craft, woven tapestry sculptures are activated performatively in various ways by means of scores, using the different practices of collaborators from the fields of dance, healing, writing, music, and film Shelley Etkin, Jared Gradinger, Heidrun Holzfeind, Roberto Martínez, Stefan Rusconi and Siegmar Zacharias.

As part of the process, the public is invited to bring pieces of clothing as metaphorical placeholders for something they are willing to let go of. Each piece is then hand-dyed using natural indigo as a unifying element and woven into a pair of tapestry sculptures. Finally, this collective weave is pierced with arrows to allow something new to emerge.
During various gatherings, the sensual proximity of text, sound and textile create a sonic tapestry through which the tapestry sculptures are highlighted and made experientially tangible.
