Ritual at HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Berlin (2017)
At the invitation of HAU Hebbel am Ufer and Barbara Raes, eight Berlin artists explore the question of how we can rehabilitate our relationship to loss and grief by developing personal rituals of transition.
The resulting ritual Softcore by Claudia Hill serves to release restrictive weights that may be seen as a counterpoint to a support structure and is dedicated to those who don’t live the life they wish to live. It concludes with a continuous chant titled “Learning how to Speak from Love,” which is sung by the artist standing on a neighboring roof at dusk with a rose held in her mouth.
