Costumes and performance for an installation with Meg Stuart at ZKM | Center for Art and Media, Karlsruhe (2012)
Blanket Lady is created in dialogue with choreographer Meg Stuart on the occasion of “Moments. A History of Performance in 10 Acts.” This live exhibition focuses on works by female artists between the 1960s and 1980s such as Marina Abramovic, Simone Forti, Anna Halprin, Adrian Piper, Yvonne Rainer, and others. Departing from the feminist art movement, Claudia Hill develops the character Blanket Lady, contrasting softness with hardness, protection with vulnerability, and primitivism with sensuality. Infused with life by Stuart, the persona of the Blanket Lady is fueled with a dark intensity. Initially a performance installation, she re-appeares in the performance Sketches/Notebook (2013).
