Costumes for a performance by Schubot/Gradinger at HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Berlin (2019)
The post-human choreography of The Nature of Us by Schubot/Gradinger searches for a consciousness that neither suppresses nor exaggerates nature, instead making space for a co-creative polyphony. Over a period of 5 months, Claudia Hill and her team experiment with natural transformation processes. Clothes are buried in the ground, submerged in a pond, or placed in compost to hibernate. Others are burned, overgrown with mold, or coated with beeswax and spices. Some pieces are crystallized.
