Conceptual Fashion

They are not exactly what one understands by “wearable fashion”, the “Gefrorene Kleider” [Frozen Clothes] by Claudia Hill. At the party for the opening of her shop at Auguststraße 26a in Berlin, the fashion designer recently let the shirts thaw out: an emblem of the fact that things such as garments develop slowly and change their shape in the process of transformation. Claudia Hill is regarded as the conceptual artist among the younger fashion designers. She works across genres and lets herself be inspired by other disciplines. Since 1998 she has been present with product lines in Japan and in the USA. In her shop in Berlin, the first in Europe, she sells women’s and men’s fashion: durable one-off pieces (photo above) that she understands as a counterpoint to mass-produced “throwaway fashion”. www.claudiahill.com

Konzeptionelle Mode
