For German-born Claudia Hill, clothing is all in the family. Hill learned to sew at age eleven from her mother, a seamstress, and moved to New York in 1993 to formally study her craft. With unexpected proportions and carefully considered details, Hill’s theatrical designs reveal that clothes are not just about appearance, but, as she says, “changing the way you feel.” A former costume designer and frequent multimedia collaborator, Hill effectively bridges the art/fashion world divide without sacrificing wearability.
