A new crop of designers has bloomed on the downtown fashion scene. We invited these new, interesting style creators to pose with one of their favorite looks on the following pages.

Claudia Hill (left) Inspired by pictures of well-dressed, almost formal looking children from the 1940’s and 50’s (“miniature adults,” she calls them), Claudia Hill’s collection brings an avant-garde twist to conservative fabrics and intricate tailoring. Her tweed and wool coats and separates are smaller, tighter and more revealing than expected, and there’s a mixture of bondage and “a confining, mental-institution” feel to suits with huge collars that cover the mouth and close-fitting hats that resemble swim caps. Available at Horn.
