FASHION

Cool Clothing

Claudia Hill has put the dancers of William Forsythe’s latest production Decreation into clothes without contour, a baggy look in grey and green: Ballett Frankfurt has never been seen dancing so ugly. Yet the fashion designer and trained dancer has only lent support to the choreography, in which Forsythe has his dancers perform distorted and impeded dances of love. Normally Hill’s fashion comes across as more exquisite. The fashion maker is one of the few German designers who are successful in New York and Japan, and she is now opening her first shop in Europe on Auguststraße in Mitte. That Hill comes from the theater (she has also worked for the New York Wooster Group, among others) shows in her opening offering as well: she presents her current collection as a frozen copy, prêt-à-porter never to be worn, which will slowly thaw on the opening evening, an emblem of a process of transformation in which things such as fashion too come into being, change and pass away. / Friedhelm Teicke

MODE

Coole Kleidung

Friedhelm Teicke
